Learning Outcomes and Application This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to promote behaviour change and the adoption of home sustainability practices by residents.The unit supports the work of home sustainability assessors engaged in promoting resident home sustainability practices.No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit of competency at the time of endorsement.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

The following must be present and available to learners during assessment activities:

equipment:

computer system with internet access and printer to generate plans

materials:

ethical and conduct standards relevant to the home sustainability assessment industry

workplace policies and procedures in relation to developing and implementing behaviour change programs in relation to home sustainability practices

householders participating in a home sustainability assessment

relationships with team members and supervisor:

assessment activities are performed on an individual basis under general supervision.

Assessor requirements

As a minimum, assessors must satisfy the assessor requirements in the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) current at the time of assessment.

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy the requirements of the elements, performance criteria, foundation skills and range of conditions of this unit.

The person must also apply behaviour change principles and approaches in assisting three different clients to establish a plan for adopting home sustainability practices, and when monitoring and reviewing their progress.

In doing the above, the person must:

assess residents’ readiness to adopt home sustainability practices

develop an implementation plan

provide follow-up services, including monitoring and reviewing the plan

apply effective communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with residents.
