Learning Outcomes and Application This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to read manuals required for the servicing of swimming pools and spas, and apply the information during servicing work.The unit supports the work of those engaged in servicing domestic, commercial and public swimming pools and spas. It applies to swimming pool and spa technicians.No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit of competency at the time of endorsement.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

The following must be present and available to learners during assessment activities:

computer and printer with internet access

materials:

current digital and paper technical manuals for swimming pool and spa servicing.

Assessment activities are performed on an individual basis under general supervision.

Assessor requirements

As a minimum, assessors must satisfy the assessor requirements in the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) current at the time of assessment.

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy the requirements of the elements, performance criteria, foundation skills and range of conditions of this unit.

The person must also select and use information in technical swimming pool and spa manuals to complete two different work tasks involving the maintenance or repair of a swimming pool or spa component or system.

In doing the above, the person must:

identify and access swimming pool and spa manuals

interpret information in the manuals

facilitate retrieval of manuals by following storage, back-up and retrieval procedures.

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must demonstrate knowledge of:

manuals used in swimming pool and spa servicing industry:

digital

paper

procedures for storing, backing up and retrieving swimming pool and spa manuals

requirements for custody and upkeep of industry manuals

symbols, codes, legends and abbreviations used in manuals

techniques for searching for data in industry manuals

types of information found in technical manuals.
