Learning Outcomes and Application This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to provide clients with specialist advice on swimming pool and spa products and services. It involves developing product and service knowledge and advising clients on the features and benefits of swimming pool and spa products and services.The unit supports the work of those engaged in advising clients on swimming pool and spa products and services swimming pools and spas. It applies to swimming pool technicians and staff engaged in swimming pool and spa retail operations.No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit of competency at the time of endorsement.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

The following must be present and available to learners during assessment activities:

manufacturer and supplier catalogues of swimming pool products and services

swimming pool and spa product and service descriptions, including pricing, features, benefits and availability

workplace policies and procedures relating to advising clients on swimming pool and spa products and services

access to an environment in which swimming pool and spa products and services are available for sale.

Assessment activities are performed on an individual basis under general supervision.

Assessor requirements

As a minimum, assessors must satisfy the assessor requirements in the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) current at the time of assessment.

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy the requirements of the elements, performance criteria, foundation skills and range of conditions of this unit.

swimming pool or spa chemicals

swimming pool and spa components

technical advice on swimming pool or spa components, spare parts and consumable items for swimming pool and spa systems:

swimming pool and spa toys

water testing and maintenance programs

water testing kits.

In doing the above, the person must:

apply product and service knowledge to advise clients on swimming pool and spa products and services

use questioning, listening and observation skills to determine client requirements

apply enterprise policies and procedures relating to advising client on swimming pool and spa products and services

apply industry codes of practice, relevant legislation and statutory requirements relating to advising client on swimming pool and spa products and services.
