Version 1.0
Issue Date: April 2024

Qualification -
Unit of Competency CSCITL003 - Produce and review standard intelligence products
Description
Employability Skills
Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the skills required to establish appropriate intelligence products, apply relevant analytical techniques, develop intelligence products and review products.Intelligence products may be:intelligence assessmentssituation reportspost operational assessmentsproblem profilesstrategic assessmentstactical assessmentstarget profilesthreat assessmentsintelligence bulletinsdaily intelligence reportsbriefing papersslideshow presentationsverbal briefingsescape risk assessmentsProducts will be prepared for a range of clients such as internal staff, external organisations, government agencies and investigators/law enforcement agencies. A range of analytical techniques should be employed according to the requirements established during initial contact with clients. This unit outlines the performance standards required for a person working as an intelligence officer in a correctional services environment. However, with contextualisation the unit may apply to intelligence officers working in other contexts. The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be carried out within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are performed. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to, particularly those related to management of human sources and source information.A person undertaking this role works independently and in small teams under light supervision, making independent decisions based on a specified procedural framework. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Valid assessment of this unit requires a workplace environment or one that closely resembles normal work practice and replicates the range of conditions likely to be encountered when working with human sources.

This unit has been identified by industry as suitable for holistic assessment with:

CSCITL504 Manage human sources

CSCITL505 Analyse information

Refer to advice on holistic assessment in the CSC Assessment Guide.

Assessors must satisfy the NVR/AQTF mandatory competency requirements for assessors.
