Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to complete basic repair and maintenance of production equipment and facilities used in the screen, media and entertainment industries.It applies to individuals who work under the supervision of a technical director or senior production staff, using some discretion, judgment and relevant theoretical knowledge to carry out their responsibilities. Testing and tagging of electrical equipment must be carried out by a person with the relevant certificate of competency in accordance with the performance specifications of:Australian Standard 3760: 200 In-service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipmentAustralian Standard 3002: 1985 Electrical installations – shows and carnivals.In some states and territories:only licensed electricians can undertake the tasks outlined in Element 2a restricted electrical licence is required to repair and maintain production equipment. Restricted electrical licences allow a person to carry out electrical work incidental to a trade. Incidental work may include fault-finding on equipment or changing like-for-like equipment by disconnecting and reconnecting the fixed wiring. It does not include any other changes to the fixed wiring.Check with the relevant regulator for specific guidance on requirements. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. Assessment must be conducted in a safe environment where evidence gathered demonstrates consistent performance of typical activities experienced in creative arts industry environments. The assessment environment must include access to: a range of operational industry equipment and materials manufacturers’ equipment manuals a venue where repair and maintenance can be completed tools and equipment required to complete repair and maintenance tasks. Assessors of this unit must satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable vocational educational and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards. |
