Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work in the music industry.It applies to individuals, including musicians, composers, administrators, sound mixers, editors and recordists.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Assessment must be conducted in a safe environment where evidence gathered demonstrates consistent performance of typical activities experienced in creative arts industry environments. The assessment environment must include access to:

emergent technologies in the music industry, including sound recording/editing software and playback media

relevant agreements and contracts

relevant people in the music industry.

Assessors of this unit must satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable vocational educational and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards.

  • Liaise with relevant people to identify learning opportunities to incorporate trends and emergent technologies in own work practice

  • Seek feedback on own work performance from relevant people, and adjust as necessary to improve work practice

describe music industry piracy issues and their impact on the music industry

describe the key sources of information on the music industry

describe ways to keep up-to-date with trends and emergent technologies in the music industry

describe the legal issues that affect agreements and contracts in the music industry

describe the work health and safety requirements that arise when negotiating work and contractual issues in the music industry.
