Description | This unit covers the competency required to command, lead and administer administer, lead and command groups of between 15 and 35 personnel during the conduct of defensive operations.in circumstances that may be highrisk, and under extreme environmental conditions.It is primarily focused on the duties of a platoon second in command who, while mainly employed to administer the group, may be required to supervise group members in a dynamic environment, often acting independently and leading by example.Defensive operations are characterised by own forces delaying, accepting decisive engagement or withdrawing from action against hostile forces.Command is the authority a commander in the military service lawfully exercises over subordinates by virtue of rank or assignment. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. In a Defence context, this means that there is no civilian need to hold this unit in order to meet licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements. | ||

Learning Outcomes and Application | This competency was developed for combat arms personnel required to command, lead and administer groups of between 15 and 35 personnel during the conduct of defensive operations in a deployed operational environment but is applicable to any individual in this field of work.Typically, individuals work as part of a team under direct and/or indirect supervision, but also must be prepared to act independently, use discretion and judgement, and take responsibility for the quality of their outputs. All activities are carried out in accordance with relevant organisational policies and procedures. | ||
