Description This unit covers the competency required to supervise the planning, coordination and conduct of ceremonial drill activities.Ceremonial drill fosters discipline, team work and a sense of collective identity while providing an appropriate means to physically commemorate the unique history, customs and traditions of military service.
Employability Skills This unit contains employability skills.
Learning Outcomes and Application This unit is applicable to military personnel who have a responsibility for the organisation's planning, conduct and supervision of ceremonial activities.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Element: Plan and coordinate a ceremonial activity
  • Verbal or written brief or other instructions describing the ceremonial activity are received and implemented.
  • Verbal and written instructions/briefs are prepared and issued to participants and other relevant parties.
  • Stores, equipment, personnel and other support required for the ceremonial activity are requested.
  • Area to be used for the ceremonial activity is established and marked in accordance with instructions and standard procedures.
  • Participation by support personnel is arranged.
  • Relevant rehearsals and other preparation is conducted.
       
Element: Conduct a ceremonial activity
  • Dress and equipment of participants is inspected and faults are corrected prior to the activity.
  • Drill movements and words of command are issued to conduct the ceremonial activity.
  • Ceremonial activity is organised and directed.
       
Element: Finalise a ceremonial activity
  • Feedback on performance is provided to participants .
  • Equipment is reconditioned and stowed, and location is refurbished.
  • Post activity reports and documentation are completed as required.
