Description This unit covers the competency required to conduct an inspection of explosive ordnance packaging and to process the packaging for further action that may be required.

Learning Outcomes and Application This competency normally applies to the individual who is required to conduct an inspection of explosive ordnance packaging and to process the packaging for further action that may be required.The inspection of the packaging is carried out in a logical sequence while adhering to all relevant work health and safety (WHS) requirements. Processing the packaging is subject to the outcomes of the inspection and may result in damaged or defective packaging being rejected, disposed of, returned to the manufacturer or sent for maintenance.

Method of assessment

In a public safety environment assessment is usually conducted via direct observation in a training environment or in the workplace via subject matter supervision and/or mentoring, which is typically recorded in a competency workbook.

Assessment is completed using appropriately qualified assessors who select the most appropriate method of assessment.

Assessment may occur in an operational environment or in an industry-approved simulated work environment. Forms of assessment that are typically used include:
