Learning Outcomes and Application This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to support the conduct of sub-unit (60–130 persons) level offensive operations.It includes preparing and planning for operations and supporting sub-unit level offensive activities. It also includes coordinating sub-unit administrative activities.It is primarily focussed on the duties of the sub-unit’s warrant officer who, in many cases will act as a member of the sub-unit operational planning and coordination team providing technical advice and direct support to the commander and secondincommand of the sub-unit. Many duties are also administrative in nature.In the absence of the commander or secondincommand the person may be required to supervise the sub-unit requiring independent action and leadership by example.Offensive operations are characterised by rapid shifts of the main effort to take advantage of opportunities and momentum to defeat hostile forces through the capture or destruction of critical objectives.The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

As a minimum, assessors must satisfy applicable regulatory requirements, which include requirements in the Standards for Registered Training Organisations current at the time of assessment.

Assessment must occur in workplace operational situations where it is appropriate to do so; where this is not appropriate, assessment must occur in simulated workplace operational situations that replicate workplace conditions.

Assessment processes and techniques must be appropriate to the language, literacy and numeracy requirements of the work being performed and the needs of the candidate.

Assessment may be holistic where individuals rotate through specified appointments or involve a number of separate assessment activities such as Tactical Exercise Without Troops.

Resources for assessment must include access to:

a range of relevant exercises, case studies and/or other simulations

relevant and appropriate materials, tools, equipment and personal protective equipment currently used in industry

applicable documentation including workplace procedures, regulations, codes of practice and operation manuals.
