Learning Outcomes and Application | The unit of competency describes the outcomes required to maintain and monitor the quality of one’s own personal output, as well as of the products being produced according to work health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures. The unit includes using timber technology to assess timber products in order to maintain their quality and care.It applies to hardwood and softwood cell structured timber, native and imported species of timber, and in a variety of work settings, including a forest environment, a saw mill, wood chip mill, veneer mill, board/plywood mill, timber treatment plants, downstream processing of timber, forest products factory, forest products sales and service, horticultural, domestic, local council and emergency services environment.This unit is relevant for a broad range of job roles across a range of industry sectors.No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. The following resources must be made available: workplace location or simulated workplace materials and equipment relevant to this unit specifications and work instructions organisational policies and procedures relevant to maintaining quality and product care relevant personnel for the purposes of communicating information Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting. Assessor requirements Assessors must: hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence. |
