Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to determine correct material quantities and pricing from completed designs that estimate requirements. It involves itemising materials, detailing material sizes and quantities, and calculating quantity pricing. Work is completed in a forest products factory setting.The unit applies to Designer (Timber Truss & Frame), Production Fabricator (Timber Truss & Frame), Timber Manufactured Products TechnicianNo licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. The following resources must be made available: computers, keyboards and printers industry current software programs used to determine final material quantities and pricing from estimates initial designs and production specifications on which to base final material requirements and prices: sketches, drawings and notes components lists dimensional and detailing data customer requirements in-house material price lists, product description sheets or manuals; either electronic or hard copy template tables for listing and categorising materials organisational procedures for preparing and documenting material quantities and pricing: Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting. Assessor requirements Assessors must: hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence. |
