Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to set up operate and maintain computer numerically controlled (CNC) machining and processing centres used for the production of panels and components. Work is completed in a forest products factory setting andincludes operator maintenance.The skills and knowledge required for competent workplace performance are to be used within the scope of the person's job and authority.The unit applies to Production Worker, Timber Fabricator, Engineered Timber Products Technician. No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. The following resources must be made available: CNC machining and processing centres, including three axis machining centres multi-tasking machining centres flat-bed routers and mortisers dust extraction equipment jigs and shaped templates for routing maintenance tools and equipment for boring, routing and mortising equipment consumable router, boring, drilling and mortising bits personal protective equipment suitable for machining material using CNC machining and processing centres a diverse range of commercial timber: beams laminated veneer chipboard medium density fibreboard dressed timber preservative treated timber manufacturers’ instructions for use and maintenance of equipment work order with specific instructions for machining material using CNC machining and processing centres template documents for recording production outcomes, equipment faults and maintenance requirements organisational policies and procedures for machining material using CNC machining and processing centres. Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting. Assessor requirements Assessors must: hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence. |
