Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to cut material to a profile with shaping equipment to produce moulded timber products. Work is completed in a forest products factory setting and includes operator maintenance.The unit applies to Benchman, Machine Operator, Timber Products Technician, Production technician, Press operator. No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. The following resources must be made available: measuring equipment profiling equipment including one or more of the following: multi-head planing machines (four siders) spindle moulders routing machines shaping machines machine guides maintenance tools and equipment for for removing and replacing cutting blades consumable profile cutting blades in various shapes and sizes personal protective equipment suitable for cutting material to profile suitable material including one or more of the following: dressed timber in-the-rough timber stress and non-stress graded timber preservative treated timber medium density fibreboard laminated veneer chipboard fibreboard coated and/or treated timber products beams, including laminated beams manufacturers’ instructions for use and maintenance of equipment work order with specific instructions for cutting material to profile template documents for recording production outcomes, equipment faults and maintenance requirements organisational policies and procedures for cutting material to profile. Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting. Assessor requirements Assessors must: hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence. |
