Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to plan the production of boards and cutting patterns and schedules, coordinate sawing processes and monitor equipment and output. Work is completed in a forest and wood products factory setting. The unit applies to Timber Manufacturing Supervisor, Production Supervisor. No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. The following resources must be made available: flitch and cant measuring equipment computers, keyboards, printers and software used to prepare planning and production documents personal protective equipment suitable for assessing flitches and cants a diverse, comprehensive and commercial range of flitches and cants template: cutting pattern documents cutting schedules work orders cutting records process improvement reports record for equipment faults organisational procedures for planning and monitoring board conversion operations a team of sawyers with whom the individual can interact. Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting. Sawing operations must be present in order that the individual can monitor, assess and modify cutting patterns and schedules in response to changing circumstances. Assessor requirements Assessors must: hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence. |
