Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to prepare and cut material to length, angle with a power driven saw and complete non-specialist saw maintenance. Work is completed in a forest and wood products factory setting.The unit applies to Customer Service Officer, Machine Operator, Timber Products Worker, Manufacturing Assistant. No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. The following resources must be made available: cutting tools and equipment: measuring equipment manually controlled docking and trimming saws bench saws radial arm saws saws with adjustable angle saws with automatic feed saws with one blade table saws maintenance tools and equipment for saws consumable components; saw blades personal protective equipment suitable for cutting activities a diverse, comprehensive and commercial product range of timber manufacturers’ instructions for use and maintenance of equipment work order for cutting activities with specific instructions for the cutting and storage of timber and timber products relevant personnel for the purposes of communicating information template reports for recording processing and equipment faults organisational policies and procedures for cutting activities Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting. Assessor requirements Assessors must: hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence. |
