Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to cut panels to size with a power driven saw. Work is completed in a forest products factory setting and includes operator maintenance.The unit applies to production workers who cut panels in a forest and wood products factory setting and includes operator maintenance.No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. The following resources must be made available: tools and equipment for cutting panels: measuring equipment saws which must include one or more of the following: manually controlled docking and trimming saws band saws bench saws panel saws saws with adjustable angle saws with one or multiple blades table saws maintenance tools and equipment for saws consumable saw blades personal protective equipment suitable for cutting panels commercial timber which must include one or more of the following: medium density fibreboard laminated veneer chipboard fibreboard plywood continuous ply manufacturers’ instructions for use and maintenance of equipment work order for cutting activities with specific instructions for cutting and storing panels template documents for recording production outcomes, equipment faults and maintenance requirements relevant personnel for the purposes of communicating information organisational procedures for cutting panels. Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting. Assessor requirements Assessors must: hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence. |
