Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to use a power driven saw to saw panels to size from a roll of continuous ply.The unit applies to production workers who saw products from continuous ply in a forest and wood products factory setting and includes operator maintenance.No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. The following resources must be made available: tools and equipment for sawing products from continuous ply: measuring equipment saws which must include one or more of the following: power operated, manually controlled docking and trimming saws with carriages saws with adjustable angle saws with one or multiple blades bandsaws panel saws table saws bench saws feed system with rollers which support continuous ply maintenance tools and equipment for saws consumable saw blades personal protective equipment suitable for sawing products from continuous ply a diverse range of continuous ply rolls manufacturers’ instructions for use and maintenance of equipment work order with specific instructions for sawing and storing panels template documents for recording production outcomes, equipment faults and maintenance requirements relevant personnel for the purposes of communicating information organisational procedures for sawing products from continuous ply Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting. Assessor requirements Assessors must: hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence. |
