Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to paint panels with water, oil or solvent based paints using roller coating line, spray booth or curtain coating equipment to finish coat wood panel products.The unit applies to production operators and technicians who paint panels in a forest and wood products factory settingNo licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. The following resources must be made available: painting equipment which must include one or more of the following: roller coating lines spray booths curtain coating lines trays overflow trays thinner reservoirs spray guns roller coaters personal protective equipment suitable for painting panels panels which must include one or more of the following: medium density fibreboard chipboard fibreboard plywood paint which must include one or more of the following: water based oil based solvent based manufacturers’: safety data sheets for paint instructions for equipment use recommendations for cleaning equipment work order with specific instructions for painting panels template documents for recording production outcomes and equipment faults relevant personnel for the purposes of communicating information organisational procedures for painting panels. Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting. Assessor requirements Assessors must: hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence. |
