Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to profile sand surfaces of curved or shaped products to achieve a smooth surface.The unit applies to production technicians and operators that profile sanding products in a forest and wood products factory setting.Licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit in some states and territories at the time of publication, and may differ according to jurisdiction. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. The following resources must be made available: work order profile sanding machine sanding medium: sandpaper, emery cloth, sanding belt transferral equipment timber products which must include one or more of the following: solid timber/moulded panel strips building components furniture components bench tops shaped panels articles with moulded or shaped edges/surfaces relevant personnel for the purposes of communicating information documents, spreadsheets and commonly used proforma documents personal protective equipment: safety glasses protective footwear high visibility clothing. Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting. Assessor requirements Assessors must: hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence. |
