Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit describes the required skills and knowledge for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health workers to facilitate a healing journey and to better understand and empathise with clients. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Workers who undertake a healing journey themselves have an increased awareness of their own issues and limitations. This self knowledge enables them to work more effectively with others in the healing process.This unit equips Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Workers to provide support related to social and emotional wellbeing and does not infer that they are qualified counsellors.The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice. | ||
