Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare for deployment and function effectively at the operational level as part of a deployed health element. This unit applies to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel working under direction in the context of a land based operational environment. Operational environments vary in accordance with Government directives and include war fighting, peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance. The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. Skills must have been demonstrated in the workplace or in a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions over a continuous 36 hour period. The following conditions must be met for this unit: use of suitable facilities, equipment and resources, including: a simulated operations area requiring the establishment of a health element to support the embedded forces multiple mannequins, actors and support staff to establish a working environment for operations and participate in military based scenarios a land based health element catering, shelter, hygiene facilities (personnel barracks/sleeping quarters) transport vehicles modelling of industry operating conditions, including presence of, and interaction with, sufficient personnel to support the exercise requirements Assessors must satisfy the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015/AQTF mandatory competency requirements for assessors. In addition, assessors must have at least 3 years’ experience as a military officer/senior non-commissioned officer (SNO) with deployment experience for all military components. Subject matter experts with a minimum of 3 years clinical experience will also be required for any clinical scenarios assessed during the exercise. |
