Inspect and report on concrete dam safety

Version 1.0
Issue Date: March 2024

Qualification -
Unit of Competency NWPSOU024 - Inspect and report on concrete dam safety
Description
Employability Skills
Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the skills required to plan, implement and report on concrete and masonry around dam safety inspection. This requires the operator to conduct routine visual inspections, to capture and report dam condition and faults in dams. Dam safety operators should be aware of the damage potential of the dam and be able to recognise and report deficiencies, or adverse trends that could lead to failure. This unit applies to those working as operators with responsibility for the inspection of concrete dams and reporting of faults or trends. The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to.Those undertaking this unit would work under indirect supervision while performing routine tasks in a limited range of familiar contexts. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to unit at the time of publication.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Competency should be assessed in an actual workplace or in a simulated environment, with access to equipment and infrastructure appropriate to the outcome. Competency should be demonstrated over time to ensure the candidate is assessed across a variety of situations.

Assessors must satisfy the NVR/AQTF mandatory competency requirements for assessors.
