Evidence Required

List the assessment methods to be used and the context and resources required for assessment. Copy and paste the relevant sections from the evidence guide below and then re-write these in plain English.

The evidence guide provides advice on assessment and must be read in conjunction with the performance criteria, required skills and knowledge, range statement and the Assessment Guidelines for the Training Package.

Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit

Evidence of the following is essential:

ability to sort, wash, dry, store and maintain linen supplies for use in funeral workplaces using the correct washing and drying programs for load weight and classification

maintaining multiple types of linen supplies over a period of time to ensure consistency of performance and ability to respond to different situations.

Context of and specific resources for assessment

Assessment must ensure:

demonstration of skills in a laundry facility where linen can be sorted, washed, dried, stored and maintained

access to a range of mortuary linen supplies

access to washing machines and dryers.

Methods of assessment

A range of assessment methods should be used to assess practical skills and knowledge. The following examples are appropriate for this unit:

observation of candidate sorting, washing, drying, storing and maintaining linen according to workplace policies and procedures and manufacturer instructions for equipment use

written or verbal questioning to assess knowledge of safe operation of machinery and fault reporting procedures

review of portfolios of evidence and third-party workplace reports of on-the-job performance by the candidate.

Holistic assessment with other units relevant to the industry sector, workplace and job role is recommended, for example:

SIFOHS002A Follow infection and contamination control procedures

SIFOHS003A Follow mortuary OHS procedures.

Employability skills embedded in this unit should be assessed holistically with other relevant units that make up the skill set or qualification and in the context of the job role.
