Description This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to interpret and apply the rules of golf that are needed to play golf in competitions or tournaments. This unit prepares candidates for undertaking the Club Level Rules Accreditation as conducted by Golf Australia and its state affiliates.
Employability Skills This unit contains employability skills.
Learning Outcomes and Application This unit applies to those who need to understand and interpret the rules of golf in a competitive environment. The unit focuses on the key rules of golf and the application of those rules to a range of situations in golf competitions.

Context of and specific resources for assessment

Assessment must ensure:

interpretation of the rules of golf and the application of these to own game at a professional level under competition conditions on sufficient occasions to demonstrate competency and consistency of performance.

Assessment must also ensure access to:

golf courses and competition facilities

other participants competing in rounds, competitions and tournaments to observe and practice with

suitably qualified golfing officials and support staff

resources and equipment such as books, publications, and scorecards

rules and etiquette of golf.

Method of assessment

A range of assessment methods should be used to assess practical skills and knowledge. The following examples are appropriate for this unit:

observation of practical application of rules and regulations to own game

oral or written questioning to assess knowledge of relevant rules, regulations and etiquette of golf

third-party reports from officials or professionals detailing application of rules and regulations

completed and verified score cards.
