anticipating and avoiding collisions anticipating traffic hazards applying precautions and required action to minimise, control or eliminate hazards that may exist assisting learner riders to develop lowrisk riding behaviours communicating effectively with learner riders completing and maintaining documentation complying with road rules for each state/territory dealing with and adjusting to diverse riding environments demonstrating and instructing learner riders in motorcycle operation and control engaging and motivating learner riders implementing work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements and practices when: conducting prestart-up checks identifying hazards minimising, controlling or eliminating hazards observing and interpreting learner driver behaviour that may put people at risk making correct response judgements monitoring learner driver progress by: assessing learner driver interaction with others identifying learner driver concerns/areas for improvement monitoring learner driver acquisition of new skills, knowledge and competency requirements recognising learner driver readiness to take on new skills and tasks maintaining personal skill development managing time effectively to: ensure all learning objectives are covered pace learning obeying road rules, making safe decisions in stressful situations, and instructing learner riders to take appropriate action reading and analysing learner driver information reading and following learning programs and plans reading and interpreting relevant legislation using verbal and non-verbal communication techniques to: ask relevant and appropriate questions demonstrate skills listen provide explanations provide clear information working effectively with learner riders by: establishing trust maintaining a calm demeanour maintaining appropriate relationships maintaining tolerance providing constructive feedback recognising and being sensitive to individual difference and diversity using appropriate body language. |
