Description | 1) Scope:1.1) DescriptorThis unit covers excavated bed preparation and the construction and laying of either Nylon or PVC gas distribution mains including the installation of the meter connections to the service riser. It encompasses the use of relevant tools and equipment, working safely using standard operating procedures, complying with relevant legislative, standard and code requirements and completing necessary documentation. | ||
Employability Skills | 5) This competency standard shall apply to any basic and safe work site where Gas Industry operations occur. It could also apply, where applicable to other workplaces in the electricity supply industry (transmission and distribution and generation), the electrotechnology industry and the water industry, subject to all Occupational Health and Safety and duty of care requirements being met for the workplace. | ||
Learning Outcomes and Application | 2)This competency standard shall apply to any basic and safe work site where gas distribution pipeline operations occur, subject to all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) /Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and duty of care requirements being met for the workplace.This unit is intended as an entry level AQF 3 competency for new entrants in the gas industry. It is suitable for employment-based programs under an approved contract of training. | ||
