Description | 1) Scope:1.1) DescriptorThis unit covers conformance testing of new residential and small commercial gas installations and associated components by a designated gas industry person following company standard operating procedures in accordance with relevant legislative, standard and code requirements. It encompasses the use of hand tools and testing equipment to pressure test the customer piping system and associated gas meter connections filters, regulators and components and inspecting the installation to meet AS5601 and State/Territory regulatory requirements and completing required records and appropriate documentation. | ||

Learning Outcomes and Application | 2)This competency standard shall apply to any new residential and small commercial gas installation, subject to all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS)/Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and duty of care requirements being met for the workplace.This unit is intended as an AQF 3 competency for new entrants in the gas industry. It is suitable for pre-employment and employment-based programs under an approved contract of training. | ||
