Elements and Performance Criteria

Elements

Performance Criteria

Elements describe the essential outcomes

Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element. Where bold italicised text is used, further information is detailed in the range of conditions section

1. Identify faulty plant, tools, equipment and systems

1.1 Reported defects of plant, tool, equipment or system are investigated and faults identified

1.2 Repair instructions and plans are interpreted to identify required processes and materials

1.3 Plant, tool, equipment or system is inspected and operated to confirm nature of reported fault

1.4 Repair plan is developed with production and maintenance personnel

2. Remove faulty plant, tools, equipment and systems

2.1 Identified faulty plant, tool, equipment or system is removed according to the repair plan and in line with workplace procedures

2.2 Where required, faulty plant, tool, equipment or system is temporarily replaced

3. Diagnose faults

3.1 Faults are located, causes identified, and repair strategy is developed that addresses fault-rectification requirements

3.2 Information from maintenance records, test results and fault diagnosis guides is used to assist in fault identification

3.3 Specialist advice is obtained, where required, to confirm rectification strategy

4. Repair faults

4.1 Faulty plant, tool, equipment or system is dismantled according to the repair strategy

4.2 Component parts are assessed and repair strategy is developed according to workplace procedures

4.3 Component parts are repaired, modified or replaced

4.4 Parts requiring specialist repair are tagged and repair instructions documented according to workplace procedures

4.5 Repaired plant, tools and equipment are re-assembled

5. Re-install plant, tools, equipment and systems

5.1 Re-installation plan for plant, tool, equipment or system is confirmed with relevant personnel

5.2 New or repaired plant, tool, equipment or system is re-installed and checked for compliance and correct operation

6. Calibrate and adjust plant, equipment and systems

6.1 New or repaired plant, tool, equipment or system is calibrated, adjusted and tested

6.2 Details of the repair, re-commissioning, testing and serviceability are documented according to workplace procedures
