Service vehicle after assembly

Application

This unit describes the performance outcomes required to service vehicles after their assembly by applying lubricants and fluids and bleeding their air and hydraulic systems.

It applies to those in an automotive manufacturing environment and involves the application of skills and knowledge at a production worker level.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria

Elements

Performance Criteria

Elements describe the essential outcomes

Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element. Where bold italicised text is used, further information is detailed in the range of conditions section

1. Prepare for work

1.1 Vehicle service requirements are identified from work orders

1.2 Tools, equipment and materials are selected and checked to ensure they are in good working order and meet job requirements

2. Select and use lubricants and fluids

2.1 Lubricants and fluids are selected and matched to vehicle specifications, according to lubrication and fluid data sheets

2.2 Lubricants and fluids are used on the identified parts

2.3 Reservoirs and mechanical assemblies are filled to specified levels

3. Bleed air and hydraulic systems

3.1 Bleeding points for air and hydraulic systems are identified from specification sheets

3.2 Air and hydraulic systems are bled according to workplace procedures and manufacturer specifications

4. Complete work processes

4.1 Faults are identified and reported to appropriate personnel

4..2 Tools, equipment and work area are cleaned and maintained, and faulty equipment is identified, tagged and reported according to workplace procedures

4.3 Waste and used materials are disposed of, reused or recycled according to workplace procedures and product specifications

4.4 Service checklists and workplace material lists are completed according to workplace procedures

Foundation Skills

This section describes those language, literacy, numeracy and employment skills that are essential to performance.
