Application
This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to prepare, set out and install walls, wall linings, framing, partitions, doors, windows and mouldings to internal shop areas.
The unit supports construction workers engaged in creating new shops or renovating existing shops. The work is completed on site concurrently with other shopfitting work and must be scheduled to accommodate both client requirements, where the shop is operational, and the requirements of other shopfitters and associated contractors.
It applies to the construction of discrete areas within a shop, such as fitting or treatment rooms.
No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit of competency at the time of endorsement.

3.4 | Fixing and fastenings are installed to secure each junction of components tight together, flush on partition face and within ±2 mm of set out.
3.5 | Partitions are assembled and secured square and plumb according to job plan and specifications. |
4 | Cut and fix decorative mouldings. | 4.1 | Mouldings are marked, cut to length, positioned and fitted according to specifications. |
4.2 | Mitre joints are fixed flush to face and true.
4.3 | Scribed joints, where required, are marked, cut to length, positioned and fixed according to specifications. |
5 | Clean up. | 5.1 | Work area is cleared and materials disposed of, reused or recycled according to legislation, regulations, codes of practice and job specifications. |
