Prepare stimulus aids for use with dogs

Application

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required for preparing stimulus aids for use with dogs, preventing cross-contamination of stimulus aid materials and reporting on use of stimulus aids.

This unit applies to those responsible for preparing detection dog training aids. The unit may be customised, particularly regarding the materials to be used in the preparation of stimulus aids and the odours the dogs are required to detect based on different requirements of the organisation, function of the work team and location.

The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to, particularly those related to use of illegal substances and dog care.

A person undertaking this unit would usually work autonomously using support from mostly familiar resources. The role requires complex task organisation and application of moderate analytical skills.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to unit at the time of publication.
