Select dogs

Application

This unit describes the skills required to identify the organisational purpose for selecting dogs, record information about dogs for selection and assess dogs for recruitment suitability.

The outcomes of this unit may be applied by a person working in a dog selection role in any organisation. This unit may be customised, particularly regarding the assessment of the temperament and characteristics of dogs based on different requirements of the organisation, functions of the work team and location.

The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to, particularly those related to selecting dogs.

A person undertaking this unit would usually work autonomously using support from mostly familiar resources. The role requires complex task organisation and application of moderate analytical skills.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
