This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to develop camera coverage for scenes in relatively large-scale screen productions such as feature films or television dramas.
It applies to individuals responsible for establishing the big picture view of productions and for creating a sense of overall unity within productions. They apply high-level creative visual story

1. outline strategies for visualising written narratives in draft camera plans, incorporating input from production personnel
communicate and negotiate effectively with creative and production personnel during the process of developing, testing and finalising camera plans.

Evidence of Knowledge
To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:
outline typical ways of documenting camera plans
explain how key production elements and photographic principles are taken into account when devising camera coverage
describe roles and responsibilities of production personnel who need to be consulted during the process of devising camera coverage
identify typical problems associated with devising camera coverage and briefly describe solutions
describe visual story-telling techniques and ways of moving from a written to visual narrative.
Assessment Conditions
Assessment must be conducted in a safe environment where evidence gathered demonstrates consistent performance of typical activities experienced in creative arts industry environments. The assessment environment must include access to:

productions and production personnel.
Assessors of this unit must satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable vocational educational and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards.
