Application
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to plan and manage stagecraft of performances.
It applies to individuals who are responsible for contributing ideas to the overall look, feel and sound of performances in collaboration with other creative and production personnel. They are also responsible for overseeing that stagecraft goes according to plan during performances.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. 2. Evidence of Performance
Evidence of the ability to:
work collaboratively on the planning and management of stagecraft aspects of performances
conduct rehearsals and pre-performance checks
perform own role including:
providing introductions and other remarks
respond to unplanned events
interact with other performers
engage with the audience
integrate feedback from others, and evaluate stagecraft aspects of performances.
Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.
Evidence of Knowledge
To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:
explain stagecraft and how it can be used to enhance performances
describe roles and responsibilities of creative and technical personnel involved in stage performances
explain requirements of leading a group prior to and during performances
describe challenges that arise in the context of stagecraft aspects of performances, and explain how they might be overcome
outline work health and safety requirements relevant to managing stagecraft.
Assessment Conditions
Assessment must be conducted in a safe environment where evidence gathered demonstrates consistent performance of typical activities experienced in creative arts industry environments. The assessment environment must include access to:
relevant instruments, equipment and/or technology
appropriate performing space and associated technical personnel
opportunities to perform before an audience.
Assessors of this unit must satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable vocational educational and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards.
