Evidence of Knowledge
A person competent in this unit must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:
environmental protection requirements, including the safe disposal of waste material, the safe use and storage of chemicals, the minimisation of carbon emissions and noise, the cleaning of plant, tools and equipment, and care of surrounding environment
organisational and site standards, requirements, policies and procedures associated with environmentally sustainable work practices
environmental risks and hazards
procedures for minimising environmental impact
using energy effectively and efficiently
using material effectively and efficiently
environmental and resource efficiency issues specific to industry practices
workplace communication channels, protocols and procedures
organisational structure and reporting channels
procedures for recording and reporting workplace information.
Assessment Conditions
The following resources must be made available:
organisational policies and procedures relevant to environmentally sustainable work practices in the work site/work area
work site or work area
regulations, workplace requirements and site standards for implementing environmentally sustainable work practices
relevant personnel for the purposes of communicating information
Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting.
Assessor requirements
Assessors must:
hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and
be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and
be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence.
