Operate a mobile field shower system

This unit covers the competency required to erect, operate and dismantle a mobile field shower system to maintain personnel hygiene in a field environment.It involves correctly assembling, conducting cleaning cycles, changing filters and preparing the shower unit for transportation and storage.The operator will normally operate as a member of a team.

Application

The application of this unit in the workplace - the environments, complexities and situations involved - will be written during Phase II of the Review of the PUA00 Public Safety Training Package.

This text will be useful for the purposes of job descriptions, recruitment advice or job analysis; where possible, it will not be too job specific to allow other industries to import it into other Training Packages, where feasible.

3. Maintain mobile field shower system

3.1 Cleaning cycle is conducted in accordance with standard procedures, to ensure efficient operation of the unit

3.2 Personal protective equipment is used when working with chemicals

3.3 Chemicals are monitored, changed and disposed of correctly to prevent pollution to the environment

3.4 Filters are changed and tested in accordance with standard procedures and disposed of correctly to prevent pollution to the environment

3.5 Fault finding inspections are conducted and operating faults are rectified within one's are of responsibility or reported in accordance with standard procedures

Access to mobile field shower system; personal protective equipment (face mask, goggles, hearing protection, impervious clothing and/or apron, gloves and boots); digging equipment (shovels and picks); tool kit (socket set, hammer, shifter and ph/chlorine sensor remover); chemicals; mixing container; measuring container; and a forklift/crane.
