Application

This unit was developed for range management and range control work within Defence but may be applicable to work in this field.

Typically, people who or apply this unit would work independently or as part of a team under direct and indirect supervision, use discretion and judgement and take responsibility for the quality of their outputs. All activities are carried out in accordance with relevant organisational policies and procedures.

1. Plan and prepare for monitoring training area/range activities

1.1 Visits to range and training area activities are planned in accordance with Range Standing Orders and activity schedules

1.2 Relevant instructions are identified, obtained and agreed in accordance with Range Standing Orders

1.3 Purpose and outcomes of visit are clarified and agreed in accordance with Range Standing Orders

1.4 Clearances and access to activities are established in accordance with Range Standing Orders

2. Evaluate compliance of training area/range activities

2.1 Training area and range activities are monitored in accordance with Range Standing Orders and relevant instructions

2.2 Training activity compliance with Range Standing Orders, relevant policy and instructions is monitored

2.3 Contractor activities are monitored in accordance with Range Standing Orders and relevant controls

3. Control training area/range activities

3.1 Non-compliant training activities are identified and non-compliance is indicated to relevant commanders

3.2 Training area and range users are briefed in accordance with Range Standing Orders and relevant instructions

3.3 Coordination issues are resolved, if necessary through direct contact and discussions

3.4 Access and egress is controlled in those circumstances where required

3.5 Coordination and compliance between users and landholders is established on non-Defence property

4. Report on training area/range activities

4.1 Post exercise reports are raised when appropriate in accordance with Range Standing Orders and relevant instructions

4.2 Non-compliance reports are initiated and forwarded to relevant authorities in accordance with Range Standing Orders and relevant contracts
