Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

AHCBAC308 - Undertake agricultural crop harvesting activities

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Prepare to harvest agricultural crops

  1. Determine requirements for the work to be undertaken, method and order of harvesting from the harvest strategy and confirm with supervisor
  2. Identify work health and safety hazards in crop harvesting and assess risks
  3. Select and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment
  4. Identify environmental impacts of harvesting the crop and take required action
  5. Complete windrowing or swathing appropriately
  6. Sample crop for moisture content and report to supervisor to assess timing of harvest
  7. Identify hygiene standards for the crop and the paddock from the harvest strategy or the crop storage plan
