Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

AHCPLY307 - Implement and monitor biosecurity measures in poultry production

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Apply biosecurity procedures for site entry

  1. Identify potential biosecurity threats to the enterprise
  2. Identify potential sources of disease, pest or weed contamination being carried between sites
  3. Consult with supervisor and management on the requirements for maintaining the enterprise as a biosecure zone as appropriate, in compliance with relevant legislation, Codes of Practice, industry guidelines and enterprise procedures
  4. Maintain the integrity of enterprise as a biosecure zone
  5. Maintain personal sanitation and hygiene on entry to enterprise
  6. Complete sign in procedures
  7. Ensure contractors and visitors are signed in, checked for risk profile and instructed in biosecurity requirements
  8. Ensure all equipment, machinery or vehicles prior to entry onto the site are cleaned and disinfected
  9. Check poultry, feed and feed ingredients to be introduced to the enterprise for health, pest and contamination status and isolate them from other poultry and feedstock where necessary
  10. Implement enterprise work health and safety policies
  11. Use and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment
