Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

Carry out weaner pig operations

  1. Group pigs from different litters to form viable groups based on body weight and sex at stocking densities to achieve optimal productivity
  2. Monitor behaviour, health and condition of weaners regularly and take appropriate actions
  3. Provide weaners with water and appropriate feed according to the established feed schedule to meet nutritional and growth requirements
  4. Record or report weaner mortalities to the supervisor and remove deceased stock according to enterprise policy
  5. Administer preventative treatments according to enterprise schedules and the supervisor's instructions
