Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy the requirements of the elements, performance criteria, foundation skills and range of conditions of this unit.

The person must also follow site-specific work health and safety (WHS) requirements while undertaking access consulting work on three different work sites.

During the above work, the person must:

identify, interpret and apply key WHS requirements applicable to specific site location and work activity in:

standards, codes and regulations

commonwealth, state and territory, and local government legislation, policies and procedures, including WHS legislation

WHS policies and procedures

research and assess site safety hazards, risks and other WHS requirements that affect site-specific access consulting tasks

select, use and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE) according to access consulting tasks occurring at work site.

During one of the above site visits, the person must identify and apply site-specific emergency evacuation procedures.

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must demonstrate knowledge of:
