Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

Evidence of the ability to:

use a range of construction techniques and fabrications to produce 2D and 3D products for use as costume accessories in at least one production

apply work health and safety procedures and environmental considerations during the construction process

work collaboratively.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided for each of the above points at least once.

To complete the unit requirements the individual must:

describe the properties of typical fabrications and techniques used to create 2D and 3D costume accessories

provide examples of sources for fabrications typically used in a performance context

explain the features of a range of 2D and 3D innovative and experimental pattern cutting techniques.
