Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

CUALGT502 - Manage installation of lighting systems

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Plan installation of lighting systems

  1. Clarify lighting requirements in consultation with relevant personnel
  2. Plan lighting control systems with reference to information in lighting designs and production documentation
  3. Conduct site or venue inspections to identify issues to be incorporated into planning of lighting installation and operations
  4. Compile a list of resources needed to develop lighting control systems that meet production requirements
  5. Where possible, incorporate into the planning process new developments in lighting technology and innovative approaches to producing lighting effects
  6. Develop contingency plans to minimise the impact of unexpected events on the installation and operation of lighting systems
  7. Do a job safety analysis of tasks and incorporate health and safety considerations into overall planning
