Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

CUAPHI503 - Explore the descriptive and emotive nature of photo lighting

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Research light and its relationship to photo imaging

  1. Identify and review range of historical and contemporary sources for descriptive and emotive lighting
  2. Examine theories of light and their application in photo imaging lighting technologies
  3. Prepare shoot list for range of lighting experiments and confirm lighting techniques and schema with relevant personnel

Evidence of the ability to:

research and apply the theory of light to experiments with lighting techniques and technology

experiment with lighting a subject in interior and exterior locations to achieve a range of effects

prepare and organise shoot list requirements for lighting experiments and productions

document lighting experiments and store research materials and work samples appropriately.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

outline theories of light relevant to photo imaging

summarise uses and capabilities of photographic lighting equipment and accessories

explain use of lighting to create emotive and descriptive effects.
