Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

CUASFX401 - Create special effects items

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Prepare to create special effects

  1. Confirm special effects requirements and timelines in consultation with relevant personnel and with reference to production documentation
  2. Based on analysis of special effects requirements, suggest changes to specifications if appropriate, and confirm final requirements with relevant personnel
  3. Discuss with relevant personnel a range of construction methods and techniques that could be used to meet design and production requirements
  4. Consider the effect of lighting on materials and finishes when choosing methods and techniques
  5. Agree on methods and techniques that will provide the best visual interpretation of script requirements, taking into account budget and time constraints
  6. Select required equipment and materials according to design and production requirements
