Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

Instructions to Assessors

Evidence Guide

Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit

Assessment must confirm the ability to apply effective fire in an operational environment through the application of fire discipline in a live fire environment; to react instinctively to fire orders; to work as an effective member of the crew; and to operate the system without a breach of safety procedures.

Consistency in performance

Competency should be demonstrated in a range of operations or in simulated operational environments that must include at least one live fire activity.

Context of and specific resources for assessment

Context of assessment

Competency should be assessed in an operational or simulated operational environment. The simulation should replicate the operational environment. The individual must be assessed as part of a crew.

Specific resources for assessment

Access to a simulated or actual operational environment, an armoured vehicle, its crew, weapons, equipment and ammunition.
