Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

DEFWDV006 - Dive using closed-circuit breathing apparatus (O2) in open water to a maximum depth of 10 metres

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Operate an O2 compressor/hand-booster pump

  1. Inspect compressor and associated equipment for serviceability
  2. Fit appropriate protective equipment in accordance with organisational procedures
  3. Connect leads and hoses to compressor
  4. Charge gas cylinders to maximum working pressure and record details in relevant logs in accordance with organisational procedures
  5. Conduct operator level maintenance on compressor in accordance with operational procedures
  6. Undertake de-service the compressor after use, in accordance with operational procedures
