Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

FWPCOT2220 - Select trees for tending operations

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Prepare for selection process

  1. Determine tree distribution, characteristics and selection method from work order and where required check with appropriate personnel
  2. Identify and follow site environmental protection practices and associated regulatory compliance requirements.
  3. Determine existing and potential site hazards and assess associated risks in line with organisational procedures.
  4. Select appropriate personal protective and other equipment and check for operational effectiveness.

Select and mark trees for tending

  1. Locate forest area for tree selection in line with work order.
  2. Designate trees for particular tending treatments according to designated work order method, site procedures and environmental regulations.
  3. Mark or re-mark trees using appropriate marking method and equipment.
  4. Make recommendations for further tree selection to appropriate personnel.
