Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

Evidence of the ability to:

identify various digital printing processes used within the organisation

select the most appropriate digital printing process for a particular job

find and use information relevant to the task from a variety of information sources.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

outline various digital printing processes used within the digital sector

explain advantages and disadvantages of each process

describe types of substrates that best suit a particular process

explain cost differences between each process

list advantages and disadvantages digital processes have compared to traditional printing methods

identify different applications digital products may be used for

describe the effect heat can have on certain processes

explain the effect light can have of certain processes

describe how folding may affect appearance of a digitally printed job

describe the layout design considerations when using a particular process

identify which colours and combinations are not effective for certain processes

identify work health and safety (WHS) issues in relation to each digital process

identify the location of documentation or other information regarding digital processes.
